The next eight months with Drithi

We decided we will call our baby Drithi at home and Prajanya at school. Drithi meant patience and I later realised the importance of this name in our lives. In the first three months, except for her sleep patterns everything else was normal, I guess this is true with many parents, I dont remember sleeping at all. She needed rocking in my legs or I had to walk with her all around the house, she would sleep whenever she needed and not sleep whenever I needed... God somehow gave me abundant energy to pass thr this. I was working for Nokia and my boss was kind enough to give me 8 months leave. Her milestones like sitting, crawling were all normal during this period. Everything except sleep, she did get the sleep she needed but was not continous, by now I had gotten used to this.

Marraige and arrival of our lovely baby

My marriage to Kannan Iyer was a match made in heaven, something already decided by Gods(and my mother;-), my mother gladly anounced our horoscope match score was 10/10, I had just completed 21 years and wanted to do higher studies so wasnt really sure if I should jump in early. I had a very strong academic track record, almost always stood in class and in top five in college as well. My family had a humble middle class background with two kids, father whose main job was to bring home money and mother's job was everything else from cooking to cleaning to taking care of kids.

This was my first match(atleast which I saw)..Kannan had done his BTech engineering from REC Suratkhal and MBA from IIMB, so I hoped he would surely let me study further. We first met on August 2002, after making sure he had good sense of humour, no habits and had good values and education background, our knot was tied in a traditional brahmin wedding.

After 3 yrs into marriage, whole family was longing for a child, we live in a joint family and everyone was very excited to welcome Drithi, a beautiful young baby, weighing 2.9Kgs into our lives. I felt re-born and full of purpose...she was so tiny and lovely. I spent first 3 months solely with her ..cuddling her, I started to take care of her from 2nd day, I could give her bath, do all her stuff and I thanked God for blessing me with two best gifts for my life - Drithi and Kannan.
